Questionable estimate

I solicited 3 estimates from reputable liscensed electricians personally referred to me by other property owners. Your estimate was 3 - 5 times the cost of the other estimates! This was apparently partly because your technician required installing a new box that both of the other electricians say is NOT necessary. As an older woman it really feels as though you are trying to take advantage of me.

Response from Haas & Sons Electric Inc.:

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you. You contacted us regarding a power outage and requested a quote for installing a line for a 240V stove. We discovered that a GFCI had tripped, which we reset, restoring power. As per your requests, you wanted to switch from a gas stove to an electric one, install a surge protector, and have the option to add another washer/dryer in the future. Your existing electrical panel is completely full and cannot accommodate additional circuits. If someone else has suggested they could add the stove circuit to your panel, they are not adhering to our national code and safety standards, and I urge you to have them obtain a permit for their work. Our quote is higher because we perform the work properly, allowing for the future expansion you wanted and protecting your home with the surge protector you requested.

Excellent Service

Michael was very nice & helpful. He explained what needed to be done in terms anyone could understand. I did not expect same day service. That was a big plus. I didn't have to find time for a second visit. I would highly recommend your company to anyone needed electric service.

Very good service.

It has been quite a while since I needed an electrician and like everything else the cost for reliable/quality work has gone up. I'm glad I had it done but the cost was more than I expected. However, it was necessary and Michael did an excellent job. I recommend the company, the excellent technicians and the superior service just plan on the cost in the budget.

- Replacement of two Smoke detectors. Replacement will be changing from smoke to carbon dual function detectors Reason for today’s visit with the customer was replacement of two smoke detectors. Upon arrival I investigated the smoke detectors and discovered they were original to the home in 1963. They were still some how functioning and going off. Talking with the customer he informed me that throughout the home the rest of the detectors were battery stick ups that his son had put up. I recommended hardwiring all of them to make them interconnected. This would include installing three new smoke detectors by attic access. At this time customer requested to replace only the two old ones with new detectors. These detectors I replaced with Carbon/Smoke detectors to meet current safety standards. At this time all work has been completed.

Arrived onsite and the resident first showed me to the hallway lights and outside lighting and tried to explain where she thought all the switches were for it all. I found out where the correct switches were to go to all the corresponding lights and then walked her through and explained what was what. She was very surprised. She then showed me to the hallway lights, and the upstairs bath light where bulbs had broken off in sockets and were older lights and pretty fragile. I managed to get the old broken parts out and installed customer lights. We then troubleshot the outside lights as well and determined that the garage one is bad because of the photocell and motion sensor, and then the one on the front of the home is dimming and in the same boat as the garage, except it still turns on. The post light was also the same age and I recommended replacement of that as well. As we went throughout the home i went over some safety items such as smoke detectors and what i had found in the panel

Replace burnt up gfci receptacle in bathroom The reason for today’s visit was to check a receptacle that customer stated I had caught on fire. After speaking with the customer, we found out that the receptacle in question was located in the bathroom on the second floor and was a GFCI. Customer stated that the cleaning lady had plugged her vacuum into it and she had said that spark said shout out for me. When we arrived, we seen that the face of the receptacle is completely black however, the back of it was still intact, indicating that the issue itself was the cord and plugged into it. I did, however, damage the GFCI to where I can go longer being used. We went ahead and replace the GFCI today and it is back up and running.

Run new line from junction box in unfinished area and mount to wall Install whole home surge protection in the main panel. The reason for today’s visit was to add a receptacle for a gas dryer and washer stack unit in the basement. Customer and had her entire house rewired some years ago and they were in a dedicated circuit over to the unfinished area and put it into a junction box. We have to wire out of that junction box and added a new GFCI next to the washer and dryer area. We then change the breaker at the panel over to a two pole, 15 amp GE breaker and installed a Vortx 60 kVA search protector inside the main panel.

Install dedicated circuit for dishwasher The reason for today’s visit was to look at installing power for a dishwasher in the kitchen. Customers in the middle of remodeling the kitchen however, they said they were going to be doing it in pieces. The cabinet where the sink is located is a temporary set up and will be getting removed in the near future so I gave the customer the option to run a new circuit for the dishwasher as well as to just hop off of the kitchen countertop receptacle above it for a temporary use. after going over the benefits of running a dedicated circuit now, and then it would be ready for the future customer elected to go with a dedicated circuit. We ran the new circuit from the subpanel in the basement unfinished area, through the bulkhead and over to through the finished basement ceiling and up into the wall next to the kitchen sink. We then install a receptacle and installed an appliance cord on the existing dishwasher. We installed a new home line 20 amp dual
